Martinho Da Vila - Canta Canta, Minha Gente [1974 RCA] 320 kbps - 90 mb (Reup)

This is the kind of record that I am proud to present. This one goes out to my buddies who dig a full on Samba set. Cuica in abundance here! A fine cast of support from Rosinha De Valença, Rildo Hora & Manoel Conceição on Guitars. Mané do Cavaco on cavaquinho & that must be Zeca da Cuica on the Cuica...ha ha.
Your good buddy "J" didn't just double check this one, but triple checked it. This may be my favorite LP by Martinho.
Enjoy! Nah, SUPER ENJOY!
I can just feel the ecstacy of this recording by the cover art. Dig that back cover!

File Under: Samba

P.S. This is peak time for the recording of the Samba form. A record like this is a masterwork of composition & production. The art of recording! High fidelity here!

  1. no comments? From ANYBODY? Man, sometimes I'm surprised that you keep bringing great music to the people, with thanks like this.. I don't know why I didn't see this here until now. I love Martinho da Vila especially around the mid-70s. Damn, how many albums did he put out in 1974? I know I have at least one other, can't remember the name right now

  2. Flabbergast, It's not as it appears. I had a migration back in January. I left the Beta of Blogger. I lost the comments in the migration.

  3. Hi J!

I'm grabbing this one on sight and based on your review. I just started poking around, think I'll begin with your awe-inspiring St Julian series and take it from there.

I must say you have a beautiful home here. Thanks for inviting me!

  5. Just returning here to thank you again for this album. I just bought a copy on vinyl, complete with a poster inside of it. I would like to thank you for turning me on to it by posting another Martinho da Vila on my own blog, an album called "Presente" from 1977 that I also picked up yesterday. It's another solid set, hard to go wrong with Mr. Martinho in this era.
p.s. Glad to see I was wrong about the lack of comments. ;)

  6. J Thyme, do you have the album Martinho put out right before this one, origens (pelo telefone) from 73? i like it even better than this one, if thats possible. all the albums he made in the early seventies are unbelievably good! can you by any chance make the "mané do cavaco" record you have on some of your compilations available in it's entirety? All us caviquinistas out here would appreciate it! abraço

  7. Hey Fory, Thanks for the tip on " Origens". Will pay closer attention to that one. About the Mané do Cavaco, give me a few days. OK?

  8. Very good album, but even having a high bitrate the quality is not good.
    But thanks anyway.

  9. Hi Bruno. Thanks for sharing a better quality rip. It happens sometimes that some rips are better then others. Thanks for noticing.

  10. Bruno, I've had this problem with some rips. I had this problem with "Aniversario do Tarzan [1978 RCA Victor]" by Os Originais Do Samba. The LP is great, but the rip I have is not properly done. So I know what you speak of.

  11. Bruno, I've listened to both versions side by side and can hear no noticeable difference between the two. You must have a very expensive sound system?
